Rural areas graduates assured of jobs security

The minister said they are working around the clock to locate those graduates for permanent placement.

 As if that is not enough, the government has taken a decision to admit the same students who accumulated 28 points in their Cambridge examinations as opposed to their counterparts in urban centres who are demanded 36 points to benefit from government sponsorship.

Tshireletso over emphasised the importance of education which she said the residents are taking for granted. “You leave your children to drop out from school, to join you in Ipelegeng, drink alcohol and do drugs and they go back to school after ages to disrespect and assault their teachers,” she charged.

Tshireletso explained that Kokotsha, which is approximately 200km from Jwaneng and situated between Khakhea and Werda is under the Rural Administration Development Plan (RADP), which aims at giving special treatment to villages far from resources. She dismissed allegations that affirmative action is not working while expressing shock at the Kgosi and Village Development Committee chairperson for their ungratefulness to the noble gesture. She said the government will build 4 535 destitute houses in 5 years of which 829 have already been handed over to the relevant people.

 In a tense atmosphere, Tshireletso who earlier on had a meeting with the teachers came out with gun blazing saying she will instruct the school head not to re-admit drop outs because they are not serious about their education.

She said most of the students were influenced by their parents to drop because they were beaten at school.

“I came to challenge you to change your mindset because, you won’t be spoon fed forever,” she added. 

One of the residents, Albert Chabanga complained of unproductive civil servants who abscond from delivering services at Tsabong.

He also accused the roads department for awarding the grass cutting tender to one company.

On other issues the residents complained that their backyard gardens have since collapsed because Water Utilities Corporation has disconnected their taps due to high rates and lack of payment.
