Firm unveils property trace and recover solutions

Botswana is the first country in Southern Africa to launch RB franchise, which originates from South Africa.
The patented “HOT DOT©” technology involves placing an almost invisible dot carrying identifying information on personal property.
The dot carries information that is registered in a secure online database where ownership of goods could be traced locally and internationally.
Two Batswana men, Victor Setlhare and Otto von Rudloff met at an ICT Pitso last year and discovered they both share the same aspirations hence they started the company.
Setlhare is the Business Developer while Von Rudloff is the manager of RB.
According to Setlhare, the inspiration behind RB can be traced from personal experiences and seeing people around him including Rudloff losing their assets without any hope of recovering them.
The duo had undergone training for placing and use of microdots in South Africa.
“We are still in talks with the Botswana Police about using this new technology to better serve and help the public,” explained Von Rudloff.
Von Rudloff also mentioned that they would consider bringing vehicle tracking in time, with monthly subscriptions.
Recoveri South Africa National Sales Manager, Andy Crawley noted that, “ Big Insurance companies are already working with Recoveri. This is because clients get discount on their monthly premiums.”
He further stated that microdots are like DNA so it is easy to identify assets. At the launch, von Rudloff, an expert in vehicle recovery, conducted demonstrations at Auto City garage’s tagging centre. The price of the microdot security ranges from P200 for home assets and P750 for vehicles. “Law enforcement has gained another tool in recovering stolen assets with Recoveri Botswana’s asset registration and recovery system. “The service helps ensure that there is a higher likelihood of consumers recovering their stolen property. “Crime is a reality that exists in today’s world. However, innovative solutions like our Recoveri Dot system are helping us fight back. “Our team of technicians is already prepared to begin tagging vehicles at Auto City in Gaborone West Industrial. “For tagging other assets customers will be able to contact the team on our hotline,” said von Rudloff. He said RB is currently supported by the South Africa’s office, but once the company has established itself in the local market, the two gentlemen would acquire full accreditation for Botswana operations.
“Our intention is to build a strong relationship with the Botswana Police Service to allow them to utilise our database to help trace the rightful owners of stolen assets. “We are looking forward to a strong relationship that serves our customers well,” said Setlhare. Among the crowd that attended the launch were Botswana Police and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers who wanted to know more about this new technology that could help them recover stolen goods.
