Khumalo is currently riding the crest of success following the release of her hit song Asine. Its house remix seems destined for even greater heights.

The raunchy dancer will perform at Trekkers nightclub in Mogoditshane on Saturday, in a show that is expected to attract a huge crowd.

Over the years, Khumalo’s career has been overshadowed by her off-stage troubles. Her life has been riddled with controversy; and she has earned herself a bad reputation as a ‘man snatcher’.

Her affair with the late Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana shot-stopper, Senzo Meyiwa earned her heavy criticism, but the two went on to have a child together despite Meyiwa being married. Tempers flared after Meyiwa was shot dead at her mother’s house in October last year, with insinuations that the controversial singer might have had a hand in the murder.  Despite losing the partner she proclaimed to love wholeheartedly, Khumalo defied the odds as few weeks later, she had bounced back, declaring that ‘life goes on’. Her connection with renowned record producer, Sello ‘Chicco’ Twala has breathed new lease of life into Khumalo’s music career. The result was the chart topping Asine. As if to drown her sorrows in song, the track is about a woman who is accused of killing her husband and her plea for innocence. While Twala has once again proved his magic as a career saver as he did with Brenda Fassie’s Vulindela, his latest hit has attracted some controversy with Yvonne Chaka Chaka recently expressing her displeasure that her (she did the original cover in the late 80s) song has been given to Khumalo without her consent. In response, the We miss you Manelo hit maker lashed out and said there was nothing wrong with that, explaining that he wrote the song so he owns it.
