TASC was relegated from the First Division last week but since Serowe side, Tsabothe were awarded soft points for an abandoned fixture, the two might be forced to play each other to decide who goes down. The league committee has sought legal advice on the matter.

Tsabothe received three points after Palapye All Stars players boycotted the match over unpaid salaries.  When the soft points are taken from Tsabothe they will have the same number of points (22) as TASC who are 11th placed, which is why some within the league committee have suggested that a match between the two side be organised to decide who goes down to the division one.

Their argument is that free points cannot decide Tsabothe’s position though some within the league committee maintain the contrary.

Yesterday, Rapula Gaothobogwe who is the spokesperson for the FDN confirmed the possibility of a rematch, but would not be drawn into discussing the matter further.

“We have sought legal advice on the matter and we are expecting a decision to be taken before Friday. The rematch will only be played should the legal advisors suggest that it is necessary,” Gaotlhobogwe said.

However, an insider has told this publication that TASC is highly unlikely to get a match against Tsabothe. “According to the play rules and regulations, All Stars did not fail to honour the match. They came but did not play the match so in this case it is treated as misconduct and it is not treated as soft points.

“Had they not honoured the match, that is when it could have been regarded as soft points,” said the source.

Meanwhile, should Green Lovers fail to earn promotion to the Premier League and TASC’s relegation is confirmed, it will affect clubs in the lower leagues in Francistown.

The development would mean that TASC and GNT join Amakhosi FC who have already been relegated from the FDN.

The number of teams that will relegate from Division One to Division Two in Francistown will then be three instead of the usual two in order to accommodate TASC, GNT and Amakhosi.
