He said this yesterday when addressing a press conference at their office.

“We do not have a problem of cooperating with UDC but we want them to clear things out first. It should be known that UDC had spread hurting lies about BCP. Certain issues should be ironed out before cooperation negotiations should start.

Again if the UDC really wants BCP, why can’t they join BCP? We don’t understand why they want BCP to go to them than them coming to BCP,” Rakgare said.

Rakgare said they would not support their mother body if they start negotiations with UDC before their demand is met. “These people are liars, they told people that our president Dumelang Saleshando has businesses with Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) members when they knew that they were lying.”

He said the party could still do well without UDC, looking at the number that voted for it during the 2014 general elections.

Rakgare said he believes that BCP could still take power from the BDP if it works hard.

He said their committee had taken a stand to endorse Saleshando and Taolo Lucas as his vice in the coming BCP congress that is scheduled for July. “The reason why we took that decision is because Saleshando is hardworking and Lucas is the only person that we believe could assist the president because he is a hard worker,” Rakgare said.

On other issues, BCPYL president said his committee is concerned about lack of water and electricity. He said it is very worrisome that people are forced to stay for days without water especially areas like block 9.

“We will be putting pressure on opposition MPs to talk about such issues. Our intention is to hold demonstrations in certain constituencies if the situation continues to be worse. We are going to march to the MP’s constituency offices,” he said.

The BCPYL also expressed concern about lack of land in the country, and  called on the ruling party to carry out a land audit.
