The group will be performing alongside Vee, K-Bos and Zeus to mention a few.

Acts expected to grace the event include La Timmy, Scar, Mosako, MMP, Shumba Ratshega, Eskimos, Topito, Makwakwa, Lizibo and Tumza. The event is scheduled to start from seven in the morning to six in the evening at Old Naledi Community Hall.

The founder of the group, Joseph Ikopeng, told Showbizz that proceeds from the show would be donated to SOS, Prisons and Princess Marina Hospital. “We have been donating some money towards Independence celebrations, which take place at Old Naledi kgotla every year.  We even have donated toiletry to the home based care in Old Naledi,” he said. Apart from performing in all state visits, Mafitlhakgosi also performed in China at the De Beers promotion of the ‘Tswana Diamond’ last year. In 2012 through the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture they performed at the African Culture Day in South Africa.

Locally, the energetic Mafitlhakgosi has performed in many corporate events including Be Mobile, Botswana Housing Corporation (BHC), Botswana National Sport Council (BNSC) awards, and the African Youth Games just to mention a few.

“Currently we have about 40 members aged between seven and 32 years of age.  Two of them are Chinese.  All these people are from Old Naledi, and usually between Monday and Friday we help some of our members with homework, while on Saturday and Sunday we hold our practices,” he said.

Ikopeng said he formed the group in 2003 after leaving Mogwana Traditional Group and started dancing at home teaching his siblings.

He said other people showed interest, which led to the formation of the group.

“I saw this as a platform to help all the youth of Old Naledi, instead of roaming the streets and indulging in some disturbing acts.  They will be busy doing something, which will be of good cause instead. We also help the Old Naledi community as we make contributions towards funerals,” he added.
