Tonota all set for Ga Botate music concert

During a recent press briefing, the developer of the music concert, Dithuso Selepeng better known as DT, said he wanted to cater for the northerners during the Christmas holidays. “People go to their home villages during the festive season and it was necessary to establish this music concert because people starve for more entertainment during these times,” he said.

DT added that the concert would cater for other villages surrounding the Tonota area and beyond.  The reggae artist said they had been cooking the concept for almost two years now and they were ready to launch it in December.

“We needed time to put things together so that we deliver a good product,” he said.  DT said they could not deliver a show of that magnitude without support.

He said they have engaged two female models that will be the face of Ga Botate.  “The two women are Thabang Mmolotsi and Maungo Mosinyi.  We want to promote other forms of art therefore we will use their beauty to represent us,” he said.

DT said as a young show in a professional setup, they wanted to affiliate with reputable people. He said they are in talks with corporate entities to help them sponsor the event.  DT said they were moving in the right direction and they have since involved entertainers like ATI and Easy B.

Also, DT clarified that the name ‘Ga Botate’ did not mean that the show would cater for the elderly. “This show is for everyone who goes home during the holidays,” he emphasised.  He added that they would involve the village chief, the Village Development Committee (VDC) and the Member of Parliament for the area.

He said the show is not meant to make money, but rather partake in community development activities.  DT said they would involve relevant figures to reach the youth and make the event a success.

“We are going to do aggressive marketing and we will stop at nothing to make this event a memorable one,” he said.  DT said they would arrange the best line-up ever for the show to be hosted at Tonota Showgrounds.
