Magosi needed just a point to wrap up the title and the draw against a disciplined Satmos was fit for purpose with two games to go.

Both sides created few chances in the tightly contested game. Satmos packed the midfield and defended in numbers; looking to catch Chiefs with counter attacks. Kekaetswe Moloi had a chance to give Chiefs the lead in the middle of the first half, but decided to set-up Wilbroad Mutale whose shot went narrowly wide.

Satmos’ looked dangerous on counter attacks and were awarded several corner kicks but Chiefs defended well. Satmos winger, Nno Sebolaanoga took a long-range effort as he tryied to test Chiefs’ goalkeeper, Mompoloki Sephekolo but the ball went narrowly over the bar. Satmos continued to play a cautious game while Chiefs tried hard to find openings in the second half.

Chiefs have now collected an unassailable 64 points while Satmos with 29 points are still fighting for survival. Chiefs’ coach, Mike Sithole said he was happy that his players have won the league. He gave credit to Satmos for coming up with a good plan against his side. “They came to sit back and get us on counter attacks. It was not an open game. We got a point and we won the league. This will give me a chance to allow other players who have not been playing regularly to get exposure,” he said. He said his decision to rotate players ensured depth and played a role in winning the title. “Some of the players did well in the first round and some came to the party in the second round of the league,” he explained.

FC Satmos coach, Kenneth Mogae was disappointed because they had wanted to collect maximum points. “I will definitely say it is two points lost than one point gained,” he argued. He gave credit to his players for their fighting spirit against a strong side like Chiefs. He said he is hopeful that they could survive the chop.
