This was revealed by BNSC Selection Panel Committee Chairperson, Geoff Tembo at the announcement of awards nominees last week.

Tembo explained that the BFA did not submit the league winners and that they have players who are based in South Africa.

The 2015 edition of the awards is schedule for May 23 at Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC).

The panel of adjudicators took six months to do screening to finally bring a shortlist of three per category.

Chairman of BNSC, Solly Reikeletseng said this year’s awards would have some new features.

He said they have reserved one award of The People’s Choice for public adjudication. Reikeletseng explained the public would participate in the process through text messages and the use of social media platform.

“Today I am proud to note the level of competitiveness among sports persons and affiliates. Looking at the list of nominees, I notice a tough competition for honours.

“Out of the 12 categories, we have 15 sports codes standing a chance to win, with a total of 35 names of individual sports persons competing in various categories.

“This year is indeed a defining moment for many,” said the chairman.
