Barclays Bank Assists Mochudi Resource Centre

Last week, the bank handed over a P40,000 donation to the Mochudi Resource Centre for the Blind, a beneficiary of the Barclays Million Maker Project.

The project comes as part of the Barclays Pan African Graduate Development Programme. Respective beneficiaries are chosen per country to benefit from funds raised by each nation.

Speaking during the event, Barclays Treasurer and Head of Markets, Kgotso Bannalotlhe said that they raised the money  believing that it will significantly  benefit the children at the centre.

“We saw an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children who live in a community we serve by contributing valuable resources that can help address areas that impact academic turnarounds and overall achievement as children. “This effort is about providing these children with access to the resources they need to improve their health and quality of life long-term.” said Bannalotlhe.

Bannalotlhe added that, “We are happy to play a role in ensuring that all children at the centre can have their rehabilitation needs met more quickly in the most comfortable and conducive environment.”

The centre caters for 78 children with visual challenges comprising of 53 boys with the remaining being girls.

Sixty-seven of these children attend primary school at Matsieng during school hours and attend therapy, rehabilitation and resettlement programs after school hours as well as during the weekends.

The centre also contributes in the identification of more children with visual challenges through its community based rehabilitation program.
