Segokgo, who is seeking second term, will be battling it out with Rodger Mphafe at the youth congress in Mochudi over the weekend.

To give impetus to their campaign, Segokgo’s team launched the campaign manifesto on Monday while Mphafe’s team had long unveiled theirs.

“Youth issues are many and are all important. However, our priority areas include HIV/AIDS, health, alcohol and drug abuse, full and effective participation of youth in the life of society and decision –making and others.

Our mission is not to duplicate the work of BMD and the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), but rather to support their efforts and help bring additional people and resources that can elevate the plight of the young people of Botswana to the table,” reads the manifesto.

Segokgo’s team said it would mobilise to increase memberships, volunteers and participants in the life of the BMD.

They also said they would partner with other organisations to launch adopt-a-school and mentoring strategies, preach against drug and alcohol campaigns, sexual abstinence, and pregnancy prevention training in secondary schools. They also pledged to launch initiatives to improve academic success as well as help secondary school students to make the successful transition to post-secondary opportunities.

The team promised to promote stronger youth participation in setting, implementing and evaluating the various development frameworks and increase of local awareness and attention to youth issues.
