Botswana students in SA safe � MoESD

The MoESD spokesperson, Silas Sehularo said yesterday that they are working in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to get an update on the situation in South Africa.
“To this end, we can comfortably say according to the information received, all Batswana students are safe,” he said. He added that Botswana’s High Commissioner to South Africa and Education Attaché have visited the students and are on the ground monitoring the situation.
“They have reported that Botswana students are not under threat and have been advised to contact the High Commission in the event there are looming or suspicious threats for appropriate intervention,” he added. Recently there were widespread xenophobic attacks in South Africa allegedly triggered by comments made by Zulu monarch, King Goodwill Zwelithini supported by President Jacob Zuma’s son Edward, that foreigners must back up and go.
