The agriculture demonstrator of the area, Olebile Gondo said despite the country receiving poor rainfall in the 2014/15 ploughing season, there are however blessed as some farmers in his area did well and are expecting a good harvest, an achievement worth sharing to help other farmers with tips on how to make it in farming.

Gondo said that interacting with farmers was beneficial to his office as well as affording them the opportunity to address them in pertinent farming issues, the intention being to improve farming practices.

“Farm walks are an opportune time to reach out to many farmers something that we do not experience in our daily operations. The main activity of the day will be to demonstrate the best farming practices like the proper and safe use of herbicides and pesticides, fertiliser application and plough setting and calibration,” he explained.

Gondo also said that they were expecting farmers in the area and tractor operators, as well as officials from the Ministry of Agriculture to attend. He added that prior to the main activity of the day, farmers would tour identified fields in Mosojane, Mapoka and Zwenshambe.
