Simon says that although he would be sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in the industry, he will not be shaken. The concert will feature The Soil, Don Laka, Vusi Nova as well as local songtress Mmaphala.

The last time The Soil was in town, it sold out a show held at Ditshupo Hall.  This time they will be at the new Molapo Piazza.

The event dubbed I Am Legend Concert is billed for May 29.  The host of the show will be former Big Brother Africa Hotshots housemate, Goitseone Kgaswane. According to the organisers, the concept behind the concert is to bring two generations together under one roof.

They said that they sought to bridge the gap between the younger and older generations for a musical festival that would appeal to both.

“The place can host up to 4,000 people; this is a not to miss show. This will be an annual event, which will give local artists an opportunity to share the stage with other legends,” one of the organisers, Thabo Letshwiti said.

He further indicated that the presence of The Soil and Don Laka sharing the stage with local artists would give the latter a chance to witness and benchmark on stage presence and quality production from such celebrated icons.

According to the organisers, the inaugural event will also see the legends having a weekly engagement with local artists.

Letshwiti said: “This is intended to further nurture our local lads. The engagement will see the big shots guiding the fresh faces on how they made it”.

Don Laka, born Donald Mahwetsha Laka is also the co-founding member of one of South Africa’s biggest record label, Kalawa Jazzmen.

The record label has produced popular names in the industry such as DJ Zinhle, Black Motion and Professor amongst others.

The Acapella group, The Soil is also set to thrill attendants with their debut album, which went platinum after selling over 50,000 copies.  Some of their hits include Sunday, Inkomo and Lonely Nights just to mention but a few.
