According to Wenzel Holtzhausen, the hotel had an extremely good year- to-year growth and plans are underway to increase the number of rooms.

He said this is thanks to the strategic location, their service and the hotel’s Palapye International Conventional Centre (PICC), which has a capacity of 1,000 people which, he says, they have been consistently giving classic business to its clientele.

“Our business has been very consistent; we have seen a 10 percent year-to-year growth since we have started operating.

“We have experienced shortage of rooms mainly due to the convention centre because of its capacity and people would want to stay here when they are using it, but usually we have spillovers to other hotels and lodges in the village when we are fully booked,” Holtzhausen.

He added that they are looking at the possibilities of adding 70 more rooms to meet this demand. The convention centre doesn’t only benefit Majestic Five, the MD said, but a lot of other businesses in Palapye benefitted as well. “We have also built strong relationships with our clients and we try to meet their demands. We keep our ears to the ground and our eyes open and we try to deliver as per our customer needs.”

Holtzhausen added: “We also plan to pitch in international conferences in future that will attract people from all corners of the world, and in the process that could benefit our tourism and Batswana.”

The hotel also prides itself of employing 99 percent of Batswana, mainly from Palapye. The MD said their mission is to help increase the household income of the locals hence the hotel trains and promote the locals.

“We have about 160 locals and only three expatriates. We have integrated some of the employees from construction site. We have educated them, and integrated them with operations of the hotel. We put our staff through the City and Guilds programme and the training is done at a very high level and we try and maintain that. It was always my mission to educate and inform Batswana here. We have set our standards very high and they are meeting the standards,” he said. Furthermore, Holtzhausen said because the hotel is a wholly Motswana-owned business. He said all the linens; uniforms, equipment, materials and other services they use at the hotel are first sourced in Palapye before they look elsewhere.

Majestic Five have recently opened a fully equipped gym room as per request from clients and in the near future will be housing a Shannaz Spa.
