The first half of the contest was evenly balanced, with both teams playing attacking football. Kenyan winger, John Nnoroge gave Zebras’ players; Thato Kebue and Mosha Gaolaolwe a hard time at the back.

It was Omaatla Kebatho alongside Mpho Kgaswane who spearheaded Botswana attacks, however Robison Kamura and Vincent Otieno were solid at the back. Kebatho in particular was venomous and instrumental in steering the Zebras to the victory.  He visited Kenyan half area with numerous attempts at goal and was unfortunate not to register a goal in the first half.

Paul was compelled to make an early substitution after Tapiwa Gadibolae was injured with only 10 minutes in the game. Thato Kebuwe replaced him.

The young Zebras then settled into the game towards the middle of the first half with Onkabetse Makganthai and Kgaswane continuing to dish dangerous balls into Kenya’s area. However, Kenyan goalkeeper Ian Otiego was managed to deal with the threats.

The Young Zebras continued to play well in the second half and Kebatho completed a quick counter attack in the 49th minute.

They scored their second goal four minutes later through Makganthai in another counter attack that was generated from the right wing by Kgaswane.

The Kenyan side then introduced Andrew Murunga to replace Robison Kamura. Harrison Nzivo was then called to replace John Wanyonyi. Kenya were forced to play with 10 men after Andrew Murunga was sent off. The Young Zebras then took over the game, piling pressure on their opponents in search of a third goal. They were rewarded in the 87th minute when Kebatho completed his brace with a low shot.
