On hindsight, he blamed poor pre-season preparations for the predicament which the team finds itself in. The Baby Jombies are in position 14 with 27 points after winning only six games in 26 outings.

Misfiring Majombolo are enduring a catastrophic experience in the league as they struggle to lift themselves out of the relegation zone with only four games to go.  Nico United though, boast of a squad that reads like a wish list for many teams in the premier league.

But, they have been a shadow of a team that has constantly finished in the top eight in the past seasons.

In Legwaila’s opinion, the problems began during pre-season.  He said everything is going accordingly, although they have experienced a lot of suspensions and injuries.

“We can not complain about our welfare, everything is carried out as per respective agreements.  “The problem is we never had solid preparations during pre-season.  “Even up to now with four games to go, we are still struggling to find a winning combination and we also lack consistency mainly due to suspensions and injuries.

“We put ourselves in this position and it is up to the 11 on the field of play to fight hard for the team. The match is won on the field.

“The management can help, but they can not get the three points for us,” Legwaila said.

Legwaila felt the changing of coaches came at a wrong time as the team was already in a bad position, citing that adjusting to new methods also needed time.

“Usually it takes up to six games to learn different patterns and tactics and that should be done when there is time.  “At the time we changed coaches, we needed back-to-back wins to climb to our usual position and failing to do that piled pressure on us.

“We are just picking up momentum now at the very end and we are under pressure,” he added.

Wesley Mondo replaced Kenneth Mogae midway through the season. Mondo said when he took over the team was already in a precarious position, but the boys are now responding well to his method.  “When I took over, the team was already in crisis and they were also in a bad state in performances. We have rectified that.

“I have introduced my methods, the guys are responding well and in our past three games we collected seven out of nine points and that shows improvement,” Mondo said.  Nico United visit Sankoyo Bush Bucks in Maun on Saturday.
