Ndlovu escapes BPL charges

Ndlovu had claimed the referee, Lekgotla Johannes had decided the game by awarding Gaborone United (GU) the winning penalty.

But, the BPL Disciplinary Committee (DC) said since Ndlovu has resigned as Rollers coach, he would not be charged for his utterances as he is no longer an employee of a team in the Premier League.

“The BPL has no jurisdiction to lay disciplinary charges against Mr. Ndlovu at the moment, given that he is no longer a member of the BPL through Township Rollers FC,” the statement reads.

However, charges against Ndlovu may be pursued in the future if he takes any job in the BPL or any team that is affiliated to the BFA.

Ndlovu was quoted saying: “The man in charge (referee) decided to end the match with a penalty.”

He questioned the referee’s decision to award GU a penalty in the 75th minute of the final, after Rollers defender Obonye Moswate committed a foul on Kgololo Kgogobi.

The decision did not go well with Popa’s technical team. Benson Shilongo converted the winning goal to hand GU the trophy.

Meanwhile, Mogomotsi Mpote’s first game in charge of Rollers is against Orapa United at the Itekeng Stadium on Saturday.

Mpote replaced Ndlovu and will be in charge until the end of the season.

Rollers will face GU in their last encounter of the season, ostensibly with their target possibly to finish second behind champions-elect, Mochudi Centre Chiefs.
