The artist plays four roles in different productions during the festival.

“To start off, in the festival I have so many roles that I will be playing.  I will be doing comedy, emceeing, acting and directing music for the dance production X by SkyBlue,” he said.  Bambino has proven to be a multi-talented artist in a number of productions that he has participated in, which vary from dance, comedy to theatre.

He is the music director for the colourful dance group SkyBlue Dance Hub on their newly produced dance act X, which will premiere at Maitisong Theatre on Saturday.

“I also did some vocals for some of the music,” he said. However, Bambino mentioned that this year he would not be dancing for SkyBlue Hub Dance due to his music directing commitments. Prior to wearing the musical director hat, he is scheduled to feature in a two-handler stage play alongside Marang Molosiwa. Molosiwa and Mamohato Askew direct the play titled Ketswakae.

He mentioned that playing a number of roles in this year’s Maitisong Festival is testimony that he has grown as an artist.

“The fact that people such as Molosiwa still wish to work with me on more and more projects shows that all the hours that I have been putting in are starting to pay off,” he said. Ketswakae tells the story of two lovers from different worlds and backgrounds.  It will premier this Thursday at Thapong Visual Arts Centre and will also be staged on Saturday at Mantlwaneg Theatre.

The artist who has proven his mettle as a stand up comedian in the past months will also perform with his allies Prince Macheng, Charles Manse and Tulani Tau on Sunday at Molapo Piazza.

Bambino has previously emceed at events of different magnitude, the latest one being Diacore Gaborone Marathon.  He will emcee during a hip-hop battle on Saturday making it four performances for him.

Bambino expressed no complaints about his multiple roles and tight schedule, as he is impressed to be part of the productions.

Maitisong Festival is scheduled to start with an official opening at 7 pm at Maitisong Theatre.  The official opening will feature acts such as Jambo Africa by Berry Heart and New Moon.

The festival will run till Sunday. The festival will utilise four different venues, which are Maitisong Theatre, Thapong Visual Arts Centre, Mantlwaneng Theatre and Molapo Piazza. Additional events to the festival will be art workshops facilitated by experts from different fields such as poetry and music.
