Makholoskop�s dream comes to reality

The disco musician is also lead vocalist for local band Zangwana, which he co-founded with keyboardist Pheko Mabolai.

He now feels the time is right for him to go solo. “I do not want fans to get confused. I have not left Zangwana. I am only following my dream of releasing my own music,” the vocalist told Showbiz.

The Molepolole born singer is optimistic Foromane will open avenues for him. United Kingdom-based music promoter Tom Wardle of Afritunez has already started marketing the track overseas. 

“The whole album is nearing completion, but I am not in a hurry to dish it out.  The response since the online release of Foromane has been fantastic and that motivates me to work harder,” he said.

The track Foromane is a complaint by a man whose partner is snatched by her boss.  She spends nights away under the pretext that ‘there was too much work’ while she is seen cruising in her boss’ car. Her newfound love does not only affect her relationship with the man, but also deprives their children of motherly love.

With carefully crafted instrumentation by Tando Zinto, and the silky vocals by the musician Foromane has all the qualities of a hit song.

 “I am trying to balance entertainment with delivering good messages in my music.  I write my own songs and that means I can freely express my views on various issues and package it in such a way that the melody would lure the listener into concentrating in what the lyrics are saying,” he said.

Makholoskop started as a lead vocalist in a kwasakwasa outfit Batee and in Slowly band back in the day. 

He conceded, however, that his passion has always been with disco music and when Mabolai approached him with the idea of forming in a disco band he was excited.  His versatility as a vocalist was demonstrated in Zangwana’s tracks Maila and Lilly.

“I have gained invaluable experience over the years and this is going to come out in the new album,” he said.
