Daisy Loo still going strong

The businessman said the delay in getting the P21 million cheque payment for bush clearing services rendered to Gaborone City Council (GCC) due to court cases was not fatal to their operations. “Our company has never stopped operating. Of course the above case had affected our operations negatively but some clients believed in us.

We are coming up with new strategies to market the company. Sometimes challenges in life can bring both bad and good for a company,” Dijeng said. The company hit the headlines about 10 years ago when the anti-graft agency grabbed the payment cheque from GCC and moved to court saying that the contract between the firm and the council for bush clearing services along Segoditshane river was fraudulent. Daisy Loo won the case on appeal where Justice Singh Walia found that it was evident from the trial court records that GCC duly authorised the works along Segoditshane riverbed believing that reduced rates were applicable. Dijeng said they learnt a lot as a company management from the corruption case, which tarnished their firm’s name.
