Botswanacraft assistant manager, Sebongile Machala, said that Masekela, also known as ‘Bra Hugh,’ would be share the stage with another luminary, Socca Moruakgomo, on the night.

Bra Hugh whose hit Mamoriri also known as Thanayi, continues to thrill music lovers.  The trumpeter has earned himself scores of fans in the country, who are expected to flock the venue.

Bra Hugh moved to Botswana (Gaborone) while in exile in the early 1980s and recorded the song, Don’t Go Lose It Baby. He played with a local band, Kalahari, which included the likes of John Selolwane, Banjo Mosele, Aubri Woki and Bully.

It was during this time that he set up the Botswana International School of Music. Fearing for his safety Masekela relocated overseas after a South African Defence Force massacre, killed 12 Batswana, including two of his close friends.  Tickets to the show, which cost P300, are sold in advance at Botswanacraft.  The show will start at 8pm.
