They had annexed the title after walloping current log leaders and defending champions, UB Rhinos.

Last weekend, Cheetahs, that are in third place on the log with 14 points, demolished Botho Ryders 32-22 to make a strong statement about their ambition to reclaim the title.

So far, they have won three games, drawn two and got a single loss from the five matches they have played.

Cheetahs are behind Gaborone Hogs that have accumulated 18 points while UB Rhinos is leading the pack with 19 points.

BDF Cheetahs Modesto Madzambi told Mmegi Sport yesterday that the players were ready for their encounter with Mochudi Rugby Club.

He said the intention is to walk away with maximum points. He explained that they have beefed up the squad by acquiring the services of former Eastern Military Garrison (EMG) Gunners players.

The players, who were involved in the game against Ryders, are Lempaletse Ngaka, Mohatse Gaboratanelwe, Elijah Radihepi and Kagiso Ditsebe.

“We have built a formidable team and if we lose the league, we will have ourselves to blame,” he added.

Mochudi has not won a match since the beginning of the league season and to cap a bad campaign, they suffered a 95-5 drubbing at the hands of Rhinos in the last match.  The club president, Thari Segobye said they are ready for the game despite the challenges they are facing.

He explained that it is not shocking to have lost all their matches because the side comprises of players from B Division.

He said the players are used to playing 10’s and they are struggling to adjust to the 15’s formation.

“We have a five-year development plan in place. The intention is to develop young players who will bring results to the club when time is right.

“At the moment we cannot expect a better outcome. We do not have a coach and depend on former players to guide the players,” said Segobye. He said the club is competing with teams that have professional players and it is mammoth task to beat them.

He said his club has financial constraints while other sides in the league all have sponsors. Segobye pointed out that it is always difficult to raise funds needed to honour fixtures. In other matches to be played on the same day, Hogs will lock horns against Ryders. Rhinos will take on Livingstone Kolobeng College Jaguars.
