Diamond in the Desert Fashion Expo slated for May

Managing director for 6PAC Promotions, Tlotlo Letsomo said the night would be an opportunity for fashion industry stakeholders to network, and offer a platform for fashion and jewelry designers, boutiques and fashion outlets to showcase their products.

“The night provides opportunities for fashion designers and sponsors to come face-to-face with the principal tastemakers, celebrities, musical talent, media and fashion lovers who are mainly consumers,” he said.

Letsomo said Diamond in the Desert is a stand out unique event, which celebrates fashion, lifestyle and branding in a contemporary world.  “We believe the event name best describes the current situation for all aspiring entrepreneurs located within an unfriendly economy but still manage to prosper just like Botswana, which was believed to be a semi-desert of no value by the missionaries but instead was later found to hold the most precious stones hidden underground of which are now Botswana’s leading export, source of economic growth and pride,” he added.

Letsomo stated that all upcoming and established fashion designers, jewelry designers, fashion outlets or boutiques and fashion graphic designers seeking to be recognised and exposed into the right demography and target market are welcome to participate in the Diamond in the Desert event, adding that their packages would help exhibitors gain a competitive edge in the market, and brand their products.

Letsomo explained that the event is divided into four categories. The first one is the Diamond category, which will cost the exhibitor P5, 000.  “They will be provided with 20 models to showcase 20 designs,” he said. He further said that the ordinary class would provide six models to showcase six designs with three mannequins within the event premises, and a participation certificate.

The package will include the exhibitor’s logo printed in all advertorials, a promotional speech after their design showcase, five mannequins within the event venue and unlimited advertising rights as well as space at the event venue.

He said the Platinum class will cost P4, 000 and come with 15 models to showcase 15 designs, plus logo acknowledgements on all printed advertorials, five mannequins within the event’s premises.

The Golden category will cost P3, 000, characterised by ten models to showcase ten designs, with logo acknowledgements on printed advertorials, and four mannequins.
