Magosi defiant ahead of DC date

Orapa United have also confirmed that they are lodging a new case before the Disciplinary Committee (DC) against the Kgatleng giants. Coincidentally or otherwise, Centre Chiefs danger man, Pontsho “Piro” Moloi is at the centre of the furore in both cases. However, Magosi’s spokesperson, Clifford Mogomotsi scoffed at suggestions of uncertainties at the club following the cases.
“Let them do it, we will meet them at the table,” he said.
Both Letlapeng and Orapa United have confirmed their respective appeal and new case.
Orapa will lodge their case with the Botswana Premier League (BPL) disciplinary committee, while Letlapeng is appealing the DC decision to dismiss their case. Letlapeng had filed a protest against Chiefs arguing that their influential captain, Moloi was a defaulter when he played against them.
Chiefs won the match 3-1. Letlapeng are of the view that Moloi had accumulated three yellow cards this season and was supposed to have served his suspension when the two sides met.
DC dismissed the case on the basis that Police XI should have been the rightful complainants and that they (Police XI) sat on their rights.
Letlapeng chairperson, Sidney Magagane yesterday confirmed to Mmegi Sport that they have appealed the DC’s judgment.
“Our argument is that Pontsho Moloi was a defaulter since day 15 to date. He has five yellow cards and we feel that justice was not served.
“We do not want to get into details as the matter is still under disciplinary hearing. This is a very sensitive matter and we want the rules to be served. “We want to say there are no people above the rules,” Magagane said.
Orapa United spokesperson, Tebatso Hule confirmed to Mmegi Sport that they played their past weekend beMOBILE league game against Centre Chiefs under protest.
“We are protesting against the use of Pontsho Moloi during our weekend clash against Chiefs. Moloi was a defaulter.
“He never served suspension despite five yellow cards. We want to use our rights and this has nothing to do with Letlapeng case.
“We want to avoid a situation where we complain at the end of the season while we sat on our rights all the time,” Pule added. But, Mogomotsi shot back when contacted by phone yesterday.
There are no tribulations that our team is facing. Both Orapa United and Letlapeng are bringing up a matter that has been long dealt with.
Their assumptions are the same and they do not understand the issue at hand, he said Mogomotsi further added that their focus is on winning the league and they are not anticipating any uncertainties as the media reports.
He emphasised that Letlapeng and Orapa United were lost.
“The media must read the judgment thoroughly so that they understand this issue. They will understand that both the teams are bringing nothing new,” said Mogomotsi. Moloi scored Chiefs’ second goal with a stunning free kick during the top of the table clash in Molepolole. The influential captain also featured prominently when Magosi beat the Ramotswa-based Letlapeng 3-1 in the disputed league game last month. Yesterday morning, BPL Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bennett Mamelodi said that Orapa United had not yet filed a protest against Chiefs. Mamelodi also did not divulge further information concerning Letlapeng’s appeal against the judgment saying it would be premature.
