Green Lovers improve BPL play-offs qualification chances

The second-placed Serowe outfit were home.
It means that the club now has 38 points, while Kazungula and TAFIC have 35 points respectively.
The latter two clubs are at position three and four respectively.
However, leading into the last matches next weekend, Lovers have a plus 16 goal difference compared to Kazungula’s 12 and TAFIC’s nine.
This makes it almost unlikely for either Kazungula or TAFIC to pull an upset by qualifying for the play-offs in case Lovers flatter in the last match.
Lovers will have to lose by an avalanche of goals next weekend against inconsistent TASC in Francistown, while either TAFIC and Kazungula should win by huge margins without conceding to overturn Lovers goal advantage.
So far, Mogoditshane Fighters have earned the play-off spot in the First Division South (FDS) and are awaiting an opponent from the north.
Meanwhile, Maun Tigers ensured that they remain in the league by posting a 3-0 victory against Mahalapye Hotspurs.
Hotspurs needed a victory to take the fight for a play-off to the last day.
Hotspurs now have 34 points. Having always flattered where it mattered most in the last few seasons, Hotspurs stepped back from position three to five following the weekend loss.
Tigers are now at 25 points and positioned at position six, which means that they cannot relegate.
The fight for who goes down to the division one (second division) is still wide open.
From position seven to 12, any of the teams may still go down. Two teams will be relegated from the league.
Francistown-based GNT and TASC are positioned seventh and eighth respectively with 22 points each, but separated by goal difference. Amakhosi are at position nine with 21 points, just a point above Palapye All Stars who have a game in hand while Tsabothe who have two games in hand have 19 points and are at position 11.
Tonota FC who have the slimmest of chances of survival have 17 points with a game in hand.
