Magosi came into the game having opened a six point-gap at the summit of the league table and looking to increase the lead. Orapa United, on the other hand, were on a mission to reduce the gap and increase their chances of winning their first ever Premier League title.  Both teams were looking for an early goal and Hendrick Moyo took a long range shot, but found Magosi keeper Mompoloki Sephekolo well positioned. Chiefs upped their game and sent several questions to Orapa United defence.

Chiefs’ defender, Sekgabo Molebatsi’s effort was tipped over the bar by Orapa United goalkeeper, Mosimanegape Robert. Magosi continued to attack using the right flank very well. Molebatsi delivered a low cross into the box and found attacker Lemponye Tshireletso unmarked, but he failed to put Magosi in the lead, shooting wide. Lack of communication at the back resulted in defender Mosimanyana Letsholo flicking the ball into his own net in the 42nd minute. Robert’s goalkeeping blunder doubled Magosi’s lead from Pontsho Moloi’s free kick in the referee’s additional time.

The pace of the match reduced in the second half, which was characterised by lot of missed chances from both teams. The Ostriches set back allowing Magosi enjoy possession. Magosi failed to extend their lead when substitute Onalethata Tshekiso’s header went over the bar. The result place the Ostriches in third place while Magosi are eight points clear of the table.
