Live-in lover arrested for girlfriends murder

The murder occurred during the Easter Monday and it is suspected that their relationship had gone sour.

Superintendent Ogaufi George said the murder occurred following a misunderstanding, adding that the police are still uncertain of what was used to kill the deceased.

“The matter was reported to us at around 0100am on Easter Monday and we rushed to the scene of crime. Upon arrival at the house of the deceased, we found her lying in a pool of blood, so we are not yet certain of how the suspect might have killed the deceased,” George said.

The man from Mokokwana has reportedly been living with the deceased at her home in Maunatlala. According to the station commander, the couple had two children but the suspect was not their biological father. George further said that they are still awaiting the post-mortem report from the medical doctor.

However, George revealed that incidents of passion killing were not many in his area as this was the second incident that his station registered since the beginning of the year. The other passion killing incident took place at Tamasane early January.
