Green Lovers (in yellow) hope to maintain good run in the battle for Play- off spot

Miscellaneous have already been promoted to the Premier League, leaving four teams fighting for a second place finish that will guarantee a place in the play-offs. Green Lovers currently have a better chance to reach the play-offs, but face unpredictable Great North Tigers (GNT) at home.

A victory for Green Lovers will shut the door for both TAFIC and Kazungula in the play-offs.  Mahalapye side, Hotspurs have an outside chance though, provided they also win over the weekend.  All the teams are remaining with two games each.

A victory for Hotspurs and either result by Green Lovers will take the play-off fight to the last game next weekend.

However, a draw by Hotspurs or loss and a win by Lovers may grant the latter a play-off spot before their last match.

This is because Hotspurs would only manage 38 points if they win their last match, but have a very inferior goal difference against Lovers that would also have 38 points if they win tomorrow.

Lovers currently have 35 points while third-placed Hotspurs have 34 points.

Kazungula and TAFIC are on 32 points each. TAFIC are, however, fifth on the log standings because of their poor goal difference.

Against GNT, Green Lovers are facing a side that has lost a total of six games, won four and drew 10.

However, Lovers are hoping to count on their home ground. GNT have now moved from the relegation zone and occupy position six, 10 points behind cross-town rivals, TAFIC.

Hotspurs, on the other hand, will face another unpredictable side in Maun Tigers in an away fixture.

The Maun outfit has emerged from the relegation zone after showing a glimpse of good form in recent weeks and will fancy their chances against Hotspurs  that have faltered where it mattered most in the past seasons.

TAFIC will also face a stern test against Miscellaneous that have lost only one match this season.  Both sides have been consistent in the second round, which could make their fixture a great spectacle.  Kazungula are almost assured of an away victory against bottom-placed Tonota FC.

Interestingly, the relegation battle is also tough. GNT and Tigers could still be relegated if they to do not pick points in the last two matches and other teams below them perform much better.

However Amakhosi, Tsabothe, TASC and Palapye All Stars that are position 8,9,10 and 11 respectively, are more likely to join Tonota that have almost been relegated.

Two teams are usually automatically relegated in the FDN. But with three teams in the north knocking at the relegation door, it is possible, that’s the number that can eventually be chucked out of FDN.

Tonota have 17 points with two matches to go and based on their current form they will require a miracle to survive.  Amakhosi are on 20 points while Tsabothe, TASC and Palapye are all on 19 points but are separated by goal differences.
