Twelve die during Easter

Last year during the same period the police registered five fatalities from three road accidents.

In addition, five people were murdered in separate incidents as compared to six in 2014 while two people committed suicide as compared to four last year.

One of the murder cases being investigated by the Mahalapye Police, a man was stabbed with a sharp instrument at a drinking place in Pallaroad.

An accident that occurred along the Lephephe- Shoshong road left two people dead when the vehicle they were travelling in hit a cow and overturned.  The total number of accidents registered stood at 197 as compared to 208 in 2014 marking a reduction of five percent.

Meanwhile the police are concerned with the increasing number of drivers who continue to drink and drive despite numerous education strategies.

During this year’s holidays, 190 drivers were charged for drunken driving as compared to 145 during the same period last year.
