In an interview this week, Poll said the investment was meant to benefit interns engaged through the Department of National Internship Programme (DNIP). He explained that his company has developed an initiative they regard as a critical component element in its skills development and human capital management structure.

“Through this structured and managed programme, interns will be selected based on academic performance and they will placed even outside the country,” he said.

Poll also said RPC has recently embarked on an international internship programme that attaches DNIP interns to programmes outside Botswana conducted by its well-developed business partnership network.

“Since RPC inception, we have always played a critical role in skills development for Batswana and many of whom remain with RPC while others have managed to start their own successful enterprises while some have moved into senior roles in the industry,” he said.

For his part, RPD managing director Komal Rao said the company believes in investing in multiple initiatives. “We recently launched a partnership with IT company, SAP, and also signed agreements with other Software Solutions providers and the recent one was with the Software Solutions Providers. Our internship program is designed to catch young fresh talent and mould them into professional consultants in their business areas,” he said.

Department of National Internship Program (DNIP) director, Boitshepo Bolele lauded the company’s commitment to skills development.

“The company’s innovative internship program serves as an example of how the collaborative relationship between private enterprises and government can create a win-all situation,” she said.  RPC Data Limited is an Information Technology (IT) company that has been in existence in Botswana for 25 years.
