The local rapper, born Atlasaone Molemogi, left revellers yearning for more with his electrifying stage performance. The Ka-ching hitmaker surprised over 8,000 people who thronged the event.

He showed up in a suspended cage clad in white. The event started on a high note with a few local artists such as T-Man and Casper the DJ performing as the crowds slowly packed up the Fairgrounds. The crowd seemed to enjoy the moment while seated on camp chairs and others on the ground having their beverages.

House music maestro Black Coffee took to the decks as the sun went down entertaining revellers with mixes, which included some of own tracks.

The South African artist proved that he is still one of the best DJs in the region as the masses stood up and danced along to the tunes.  Those who were still stuck in the queues outside pushed in so that they could also see the DJ performing.

After his performance a number of artists such as Team Distant, Ryan Blaze and Ricky Lamar entertained the crowd.

Human traffic piled up with the number of people carrying cooler boxes going on the increase. Yarona FM’s DJ Izzy and Zeus increased the tempo when they performed a number of tracks together including the famous Nijel Amos track that made crowds ecstatic as they sang along.

The A-class stage, which consisted of fire visual effects, motorbikes, shower taps and large screens quickly made one to notice that the Summer Explosion brand has developed and grown.

Every performance seemed as if the artists had planned on staging a competition.  A group of young female dancers who were dressed in bikinis graced the stage as they danced to some RnB music with showers sprinkling water on them. The crowd was at a stand still as the dancers showered and danced on the stage.

The highlight of the night came when South African heavy weights Cassper Nyovest and AKA performed. The latter that is a favourite with the local audience started his performance with famous tracks such as I Hope You Bought It, Doc Shebeleza and Phumakim from his debut album Tsholofelo as he did the taxi driver dance moves.  He decided to take the crowd back in time as he performed the old school track Wamotseba Motho.

After Cassper Nyovest performanced, the crowd was more hyped up, as it knew that AKA was about to perform. The rapper came on stage with heavy security and a band carrying the South African flag while wearing a Zebras jersey.  AKA who looked even more hyper active than the crowd, rapped and danced on stage starting with his latest single, Sim Dope.

During his performance the rapper hoisted a bottle of alcohol and said, “Let’s celebrate life.” Event organiser, DJ Kuchi, who was impressed by the turnout, stated that in September he would be hosting Spring Explosion.
