CAF conducts AFCON 2017 draw today

Zebras, which failed to qualify for the 2015 AFCON finals in Equatorial Guinea, will be hoping that they get a favourable draw that could see them qualify for the second time in history.
In the 2015 AFCON qualifiers, Zebras managed to overcome the likes of Burundi in the preliminaries but found themselves in one of the toughest groups in the next round.
They were pitted against Senegal, Egypt and Tunisia and finished last in the group with just one point. Before the draw, the host for the tournament, between Algeria, Ghana and Gabon, will be announced.
The tournament was initially scheduled to take place in Libya, the war-torn North African country.
Meanwhile, the Zebras were paired against Lesotho in the qualifiers for the Orange African Nations Championship (CHAN) to be held in Rwanda next year.
The draw was conducted on Sunday in Cairo. Zebras will take on Lesotho away from home on the weekend of June 20 before they host their southern African counterparts in the return leg on the weekend of July 4.
The winner will then take on the winner between Zimbabwe and Comoros in the next round. The CHAN is a tournament designed exclusively for players plying their trade in their domestic leagues.
The first edition was held in 2009 in Cote d’Ivoire with DR Congo emerging as champions. The second edition held in 2011 in Sudan, saw Tunisia as winners whilst Libya won the third edition in 2014 in South Africa.
