With Heart, Not Eyes creativdirector, Christopher Mangiroza, confirmed that the set up and everything required for the play is ready.

“We managed to get a small amount of money to help with the production we have even purchased costumes,” Mangiroza said. He stated that the crew is currently polishing up the theater act with constant rehearsals.

“I am just hoping that the theatre fills up on Saturday so Batswana can come witness stories we have to tell through dance,” he said.

With Heart, Not Eyes is a theatre play based on experiences that TNT crew dancers have faced on their route to being professional dancers.  It reflects their lives in a society whereby street dance is not highly recognised and appreciated.  The play is put together by the senior crewmembers.

This is the first play that TNT crew will perform as a crew.  They have previously performed in other theatrical plays as individuals.

He mentioned that the play is silent.

“There will be no words used during the play, but a story shall be told,” he emphasised.

With Heart, Not Eyes is one of the first local theatre acts to depict urban street dance or the hip hop culture.

Internationally, the crew noticed that plays such as the Tupac Shakur musical on Broadway depicted the late rapper’s life through his music.  They wanted to approach their stories through dance instead.
