New BOKA leadership encourages teamwork

Mathe stressed the importance of the association’s affiliates, as they are the owners of karate.

Mathe said his committee would focus on pushing the association’s aims and objectives, than their personal interests.

He also said the association would avoid bias and fear when dealing with problems they face, and they will not allow interference to drive the association. Mathe has been leading an interim committee that has been in the office since last year October, after four of the then executive committee resigned from their posts. The four are the then Vice President Administration Lere Basupang, Public Relations Officer (PRO), Andrew Dobolo, Vice Secretary General Kemmonye Seletamotse and treasurer Bontle Charles.

Dobolo and Seikokai Federation Botswana have since quit BOKA. The resignations led to the committee dissolving.

The interim committee was put back into the office after uncontested elections. In this committee, Sydney Maruping is the Vice President Administration, Mpho Bakwadi is the Vice President technical, Motshwari Motlogelwa is the Secretary General, and his vice is Seletamotse, the association’s treasurer is Basupang and the PRO is Jerry Ditlhong. Reports are that the committee has the full backing of the affiliates. They will be in the office for a two-year term.
