The teams that will take in the event are Kanye Council, Lobatse, Ramotswa, Tlokweng, Mogoditshane, Palapye, Serowe, Bobonong, Gaborone, Chobe, Jwaneng, Mochudi, Ghanzi, Francistown, Selebi-Phikwe, Sowa, Tutume, Tsabong, Mabutsane, Ngwaketsi Land Board and Tonota.

“The official opening will be held at Lobatse Sports Complex on Saturday. The games will be held across Lobatse.

Pool and table tennis will be held at Peleng Community Hall while chess and darts will be at Woodhall, netball at BNSC courts and Lobatse Senior Secondary School while football will be at Old Lobatse Stadium, Newlook Primary, Pitikwe Primary and Bothakga Primary. Lobatse Sports Complex has offered us two grounds,” LAHISA communications manager, Junity Sechele said.

After the games, a national team to represent the country at the Southern Africa Inter- Municipalities Sports Association (SAIMSA) games in Lesotho would be selected. Sechele said preparations for Saturday’s games are going on smoothly.

Even though the guest speaker has not been confirmed, there are hopes that President, Ian Khama would officially open the games.

Known for his support to the organisation, Khama lunched LAHISA last November. Speaking at the launch last year, the President declared his full support for the organisation and its activities.

Sechele said they have not received confirmation about the President’s attendance, but they expected to get a guest speaker by yesterday. He said they expect all 22 participating teams to arrive on time and bring full squads for all sporting codes.
