Ngubula closes gaps ahead of professional bouts

It will be the fourth professional tournament since inception in 2013.
“We have learnt a lot and we continue to learn. We face challenges because of circumstances we work under.
“There are always issues regarding sponsorships and other financial challenges because hosting these tournaments is expensive.
“We work on a tight budget, but I can assure you that the tournament will go on as scheduled,” he said.
He said by now they know what they are doing because of their experience with the past three tournaments.
“Right now, we have boxers on standby in case one of the boxers billed to fight is forced to withdraw at the last minute because of injury.
“In the past, there was an incident where Kgomotso Bok’s fight was cancelled in the last minute and we are trying to avoid that,” he added. The tournament was initially scheduled to take place at Riverwalk parking space, but has been moved to the President Hotel open space.
He revealed that they are worried about the current weather conditions and have since started negotiations with Gaborone Senior Secondary School (GSS) for an alternative venue in case it rains on the day of the event. The main bout will be between Bok and Peter Pelane. Bok has four professional fights while his opponent has been involved in eight bouts.
In other bouts, Tshepiso Mokgadi will battle Modiri Sanyati while Olaotse Rannobe will take on Mmilili Khutshwane.
Tshepo Khutloeng will face off with Thato Monabana.
Ngubula said he is expecting Namibian boxer, Mates Jonas to arrive and will fight against local boxer, Patrick Seoko.
Seoko was initially scheduled to fight Ryan Seakolo, but Seakolo has withdrawn after sustaining an injury in his last fight.
Gomotsang Gaasite will also not fight after sustaining an injury during training. The official weigh in will take place on Friday morning.
