Miss Millenium winners receive their prizes

The exciting and unique beauty pageant for Mogoditshane women over 40 years of age was held on February 14, Valentine’s Day where the beautiful and slender Sandra Ramanteba was crowned the queen.

The ceremony started at 1800hrs and ended late. The beautiful contestants went home with amazing prizes such as microwaves, salad bowls, throws, electronics, vouchers, cash and many more prizes.

Zenzele Hirschfeld of Zen Promotions told Showbiz that Car World sponsored the prize giving ceremony.  Savanna cider also helped with part of the sponsorship.

Debbie Smith of Hamptons Promotions also gave Miss Millenium VIP tickets to the festival worth P2,400 and 21 Jump Street Lodge gave her two nights holiday in Maun, courtesy of Patricia Ridge Mpho.  It was interesting to see how supportive and hands on the former beauty queens were at the ceremony. The first princess, Sefela Modisenyane, took expensive luxurious bedding for all seasons and toiletries.

The second princess, Charity Ntebang, walked away with a microwave and Russell Hobbs electronics.  The pageant’s make up artist’ Emma Mqum of Imperial Salon in Mogoditshane was also given a prize for always being supportive and creative with the contestants’ looks.  The prizes were handed over by Dolly Monageng of Millenium Jazz Pub and 2014 Miss Millenium, Rachel Keddy. Dinner and refreshments were served after the ceremony.

The 2015 winner, Ramanteba gave a few words at the ceremony.

“I have always wanted to open a rehabilitation centre under my name, which deals with alcohol and drug abuse in our country,” she said.

The beauty queen also thanked everyone who played a part in the pageant as she said it has opened many doors for her to do more in the society.

Ramanteba’s main focus is sensitising people about the dangers of drugs and alcohol abuse because she is a mother, and her son inspires her to do more.

Since scooping the grand prize, Ramanteba has been getting a lot of recognition.  It has also improved her confidence and self-esteem.  She is thrilled to be a role model in the society.  There will be a paid luncheon, and a sponsored walk organised by Ramanteba on May 16, 2015, which will feature celebrities and other role models in society so as to raise funds for her aforementioned project.

Miss Millenium has been running for eight years.
