Awards night for BTCL stars

The employees were recognised under different behaviour categories from different divisions across the business. In addition, one staff member was honoured with the managing director’s award.

BTCL managing director, Paul Taylor said the purpose of the awards is to provide a framework within which people can recognise team members for exceptional performance, maximising achievement of BTCL’s goals and objectives and promoting the right behaviours.

“As we recognise some of our team members tonight, we are not just saying thank you but encouraging them to continue demonstrating those behaviours and for others to emulate,” he said.

Taylor noted that employee recognition reinforces and rewards people that create maximum value for the business, driving the right behaviours and promoting enhanced levels of customer service.

“We must remain sensitive to the fact that our team members are the key assets of any organisation, hence recognition is more than a nice thing to do.

It is an integral part of what we are,” he emphasised. The MD also indicated that BTCL has in the past hosted the beMOBILE Premier League Awards, and Long Service Awards, among others, but never has the company held awards to celebrate the highest performers.

He said these are the people who put their customer at the centre of what they do, adding that putting customers first is the very essence of the company’s existence.

Explaining the criteria used in selecting the employees, Taylor pointed out that during various surveys and engagement forums, team members highlighted the need to improve recognition within the company.

He stated that management received the feedback and that the committee, with representatives from all divisions, was set up to ensure fairness and consistent approach across the business.

“We worked with the committee to establish realistic criteria that made the recognition special yet achievable.

The selection of awardees now rested with team members who were invited to nominate others for awards,” Taylor explained.
