FDN chairperson, Eatametse Olopeng said they are aware that teams use old kits from the 2013 season, when Debswana started sponsoring the league.

“We are looking into the issue with the Botswana Football Association (BFA). At the moment, there is lack of understanding as to whether the sponsor should provide teams with kits every season or not.

“We will present the matter regarding kits at the next BFA National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting which is very soon and that is when we can reach a conclusion,” said Olopeng, who is also an NEC member.

Olopeng said he was also aware of the branding issue.   “This (branding) is one issue we will look into at the next NEC meeting. We promise that we will soon put remedial action on the branding issue. It is in our interest to see the league improving,” he said.

There have been constant complaints from clubs that their kits are worn out and have to be replaced.

Clubs have in the past indicated that they believe it is the sole responsibility of the league to provide them with kits every season because there is a sponsor.

Other clubs such as TAFIC have been forced to source their own kits after they were relegated from the elite league to the First Division.
