Moshupa Police de-links stabbing to gangs

Gagogosha however said only few incidents have been reported to Moshupa Police Station. “We have only two cases where a boy was stabbed with a knife at Dladleng Entertainment Club by a group of boys from Thamaga.  “The other case involves a group of boys who attacked a man with a softball bat. The cases haven’t proceeded because the victims have not yet recovered from their injuries,” said Gagogosha. “We just hear people saying that gangs are terrorising the village. The information is misleading.

“Government media also blew things out of proportion through their news after a kgotla meeting that was held a week ago,” Gagogosha said. According to a source that wanted to remain anonymous, people are concerned with the rising number of violent incidents taking place in the village.

“In one incident they assaulted a young boy until he was unconscious, they stabbed him with beer bottles and broke his hand.  At a different occasion they stabbed a man with a sharp instrument.

“It has been two months since this wave of violence hit the village and people have started fearing to walk on their streets. This mostly happens at night,” he said. A village elder, Nko Kebaswele encouraged parents to report any suspicious children so that they are brought to order through corporal punishment as early as possible.  He also encouraged parents to raise their children within the church environment.
