The local side advanced to the second round of the qualifiers after beating Madagascar by 3-2 aggregate score.

The hosts are looking up to talented Double Action striker, Thuto Ramafifi for goals, while full back, Kesegofetse Mochawe is expected to put on another solid performance. The team will be missing Tlamelo Motlhale, who was sent off in the first leg against Madagascar.

Team coach, Gaolethoo Nkutlwisang said the girls are on a high and do not fear their more fancied South African opponents.“The preparations are going very well except for Phatsimo Bosa who is suspended for the match after CAF cited unsporting behaviour during the last match.

“We do not have any major injuries in the camp except for minor knocks, which we expect to be okay by the weekend. We are going to attack and defend as a team,” Nkutlwisang added.

Banyana Banyana coach, Vera Pauw has not made many changes to the squad that she took to the women’s World Cup in Cyprus, but has left out two popular names in Amanda Sister and Thoko Mndaweni.

United States-based goalkeeper Kaylin Swart, has been included in the travelling squad. Also in the team are veteran strikers Portia Modise and Noko Matlou.

Modise is the first African woman to score 100 goals in national team colours.   Botswana would be looking for revenge after an embarrassing 10-0 defeat the last time the two teams met.

The second leg will be played in South Africa in two weeks time.
