The multi-talented twins, Lydia and Mavis German, burst onto the scene late last year when Pula Power made a return to the television screens.  The 22-year-old pair has a lot of praise for musician Vee who introduced them to Zeus who ended giving them a career guidance talk that prompted to get a job on television.

Showbiz caught up with the Kasane-raised duo who also have a theatrical background.

While narrating their road to fame, Lydia said that they have been involved in a number of artistic events ranging from poetry, singing to theatre. They have worked with the likes of former Generations actress, Lorato Motshwarakgole, who taught them a number of important things about professionalism, such as discipline and punctuality.

“It is when we were make up artists for musicians during the Africa Youth Games when Vee noticed that there was something special about us and called Zeus to sit us down.  We told Zeus that we are multi-talented, but he told us to focus on one thing and take it one step at a time,” Lydia said.

She further said after the talk with Zeus they decided to put their strength in acting, and that is when they went to Dee Zone Productions for a drama series audition. After impressing the producers and directors they were asked to join the Pula Power team as presenters.

“We were quick to agree to take on such an opportunity,” Mavis said.   They also managed to get roles in a drama series, which is yet to air on Btv. The twins have shown great talent and originality on air since they began presenting their segment on Pula Power.  They believe they are slowly growing up in the entertainment industry and they want to expand to having their own television programme.

“We want to have something like a reality show,” they said. The duo, which is planning on going for Big Brother Africa auditions this year as a pair, said lack of sponsors and agents has affected the growth of their German brand as they are also trying to venture into radio presenting. They want to grow the German brand by playing a number of roles such as emceeing at events, doing campaigns for the youth, being brand ambassadors and public speakers.

They further said that they want to continue working as twins in all the roles they will be playing.  Jokingly, they said that they want to have a double wedding when they turn 26.

The Germans looks up to American twins, Tia and Tamara Mowry, who started their acting career at a tender age. The twins have also worked for Debswana as models during one of the diamond exhibitions.
