BDP redouble efforts to plug media leaks

“We have to deliberate in this national council, how to reinforce security at all future internal party meetings.
The council deliberation should include among others, rigorous accreditation of delegates, not allowing the issue of recording devices such as cellular phones and other recording devices in our internal meetings,” Balopi said at the weekend council held in Gaborone.
Following Balopi’s statement, Mmegi has learnt that council agreed that members should be checked every time to verify whether they are indeed delegates or not. “A resolution was taken that cellphones should be put in one area to avoid recordings especially when serious matters are discussed. Members who sit in different party committees were asked to be faithful and loyal to BDP,” he said.
The BDP secretary general also raised a concern that his party is at war with itself since members have a tendency of attacking and hating each other.
“We have to portray a positive image in the eyes of onlookers. People want to be part of a stable and winning team,” he said.
On issues of international affiliates, Balopi told party members that the BDP has been accepted as a full member of the Socialist International at the December 12-13, 2014 Geneva conference and had since paid the annual subscription fee of 7,000 British Pounds as required.
