Magosi sink Letlapeng

The game was initially scheduled for last week, but was abandoned due to heavy rainfall.Midfielder, Ocean Mpofu broke the deadlock with a fine finish and Lemponye Tshireletso netted a fantastic goal from a difficult angle. Kekaetswe Moloi put the final nail into Letlapeng’s coffin with a late scorcher. Letlapeng’s goal came from Tshegofatso Chimuku with wonderful yet controversial goal.
It was Tshireletso who had the first real chance at goal but Letlapeng goalkeeper Tumiso Mashakola denied him. The Kgatleng giants would have taken the lead in the 15th minute had Mashakola not sprung brilliantly to his left to parry Pontsho Moloi’s close range free kick over the crossbar. Midway through the first half, Tshireletso was denied another chance to break the deadlock when his header hit the crossbar and went back into play. The deadlock was finally broken five minutes before the break through Mpofu’s wonderful strike after the keeper failed to clear Moloi’s cross. The goal separated the two sides at half time.
Letlapeng came back from the break with determination to equalise and it was not long before Chimuku found an equalizer, capitalising on a defensive mix up by Chiefs. The ball hit the cross bar, slightly crossed the line and went back into play. The referee registered it as a goal despite protests from Magosi players and supporters. After the goal, the Ramotswa side frustrated their opponents with quick exchange of passes and numerous attacks towards goal.
Chiefs made some crucial substitutions and immediately gained momentum. Tshireletso put Chiefs in front again with a fantastic strike from a tight angle on the left. Moloi then sealed the victory with a simple tap-in from Onalethata Tshekiso’s pass. In a post match interview, Magosi head coach, Mike Sithole said they won the match from the bench. “It was a difficult game for us but I am glad that the boys showed character and managed to get the three points” he said.
For his part, Letlapeng’ assistant coach, Matshedi Moseki said he was not angry with the players because they fought hard, but in the end it was never meant to be. “From now on we will take one game at a time and try to pick the necessary points,” he said. The loss leaves Letlapeng rooted at the bottom with just 12 points from 22 games while Magosi remain at the top with 50 points and move six points clear of second placed Orapa United.
