Modipane United Stun Prisons XI

The game was evenly contested from the start with both teams creating several scoring chances. However, Prisons were the first to get a real scoring opportunity from a not-so-beautiful corner kick. MU failed to make a decisive clearance despite the fact that the corner kick was not well taken. Mogami Makwatse found himself with a clear-cut opportunity to capitalise but he shot straight at MU goalkeeper, Gaotlhobogwe Podile.

Few minutes later, MU also had the chance to take the lead, but they wasted the glorious opportunity. A defensive error by Prisons XI put Sechaba Molatlhegi clear at goal, but he took time to shoot and Prisons managed to cover. Midway in the first half, Prisons XI’s Tabona Ntlogelang beat the offside trap and found himself with only the goalkeeper to beat. He tried to chip the ball over the goalkeeper, but his effort went over the cross bar.

Few minutes into the second half, MU made double substitutions, introducing Keitumetse Baithumi and Thato Tumagole. Baithumi made an immediate contribution setting up Tlhaolang within few minutes of his introduction. However, Tlhaolang made a hash of what should have been MU’s goal. He redeemed himself moments later by rounding off Prisons XI defender before slotting the ball past the goalkeeper to put MU in front. Prisons XI had several chances to equalise but were wasteful in front of goals.
