No bail for Thamaga gang

The gang is charged with murder of an elderly woman late last year. State Prosecutor, Sub Inspector Moshe Karabo said two of the accused persons were juveniles have been excused from attending the case. “Two of the 10 are juveniles therefore they are on bail and they were excused from attending the court proceedings for a period of a month,” said Karabo.

The police officer said the investigations have been completed. “We have since received a post mortem report and the investigating officer is still typing the case so that it can be sent to Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).  Some simcards were confiscated from the accused persons and were sent to the relevant authorities for verification of ownership. We therefore require an extended remand of the accused,” said Karabo.

The suspects are linked to the death of a 66-year-old Thamaga woman who died after sustaining injuries from stab wounds whilst her daughter, Thonoko Ramotuana sustained serious injuries during an attack from the gang known as Merubisi.

They will appear again on the 26th of March 2015.
