New Palapye bus rank set for grand open

The new rank was built by the Mido Construction Company at the value of P74.8 million for the construction phase and P6.3 million for the consultancy supervision phase.

According to CDC council secretary, Lopang Pule, there had been delays in the completion of the project due to unforeseen circumstances and additional works required.

“The original completion date of the bus rank was October 10, 2014 but this was extended to January 31, 2015 due to delays attributable to inclement weather, relocation of water lines and additional works of installation of traffic lights and asphalt overlay along the A1 and A14,” he told Mmegi.

“The construction of the bus/taxi rank was substantially completed on February 19, 2015 and taking over certificate issued accordingly.”

Pule also said that the logistics of the rank’s official opening are still being worked out and the official date will be communicated to the public.

“CDC is working around the clock to ensure that the bus/taxi rank will be opened for public use before the end of this month,” he said.

Mido site agent, Simon Maema said there is still some work to be completed outside the facility, which has been delayed by the operation of the old rank.

“The only part that is left is the storm water drainage trench at the entrance of the old bus rank, and we are waiting for the buses to move to the new bus rank so we can complete that part. Our job here would then be done,” said Maema.
