Decomposed body discovered in Ntshe

The commander of Francistown Police Station, Lebalang Maniki said the case was reported to them by someone who had been troubled by the bad smell in the area where the body was found. The smell forced members of the community to look for the cause.

“To their surprise, they found a decomposed corpse in a trench and immediately alerted the police,” Maniki said. The police have not established the identity of the dead person.  Maniki said that it would take sometime to positively identify the family of the deceased due to the scientific process that will be used and if a relative is not found soon.

“The postmortem has been conducted and we await the results which will hopefully help reveal the cause of death and the time of death,” he said. Most of the families in the village have been consulted about the matter but police efforts to identify the relatives of the deceased have not borne fruit.

Maniki has urged people to communicate their whereabouts so that they can be traced in case of problems. He said in the current case, the police did not know if the deceased was staying alone or with someone, hence it was difficult to establish his identity or those who know him.
