With veteran marksman, Malepa Bolelang pulling the strings, ECCO dominated a tightly contested match in which they needed a win to boost their survival chances.

The Francistown side and former champions have only won four matches in this campaign.

Police XI barely registered a shot on target in the poorly attended game that started on a low note.

The game sparked to life in the 20th minute when Police XI striker, Ishmael Amponsah shot wide after nervy defending by ECCO.

Midway through the first half, Police XI survived when Bolelang’s long-range shot hit the post and went back into play. In the second half, Oruzo Powe headed wide after he was released by Bolelang from a set-piece.  To spice things up, ECCO brought in Zecco Makafiri for Kagiso Lekgetho while Police took out Phenyo Molefe and introduced Loago Kgaswane. Police XI threatened to take the lead when Otlaadisa Manyika’s powerful shot went over the cross bar.

After the match, ECCO’s head coach said the result was good considering that they have been losing games. “This is an improvement and we will fight until the final whistle because it is not yet over for us,” he said.
